Roam with Kristin · A journey guide

Eight days from Dubrovnik to the Bay of Kotor, with one full day of nothing on it.

Two countries, one airport, a private boat instead of a group tour.

Show me the plan
Why this one

I've been to Dubrovnik exactly once. One day, off a cruise ship, on somebody else's schedule. It was beautiful. It also wasn't enough, and I knew that before lunch.

This is the eight days I wish I'd had instead. Dubrovnik as the anchor, Montenegro in the middle, and enough room in it that you're not sprinting through any of it.

One honest note. I haven't been to Montenegro yet. It's on my list for next year. That half of the plan comes from advisors who've spent real time in Boka Bay and from partners who know which skipper shows up and which one cancels in a light wind. When I do go, this gets better.

The shape of it
Length

Eight days, seven nights. Three in Dubrovnik, three in the Bay of Kotor, one last night back on the Croatian coast.

When to go

May is my pick. September is a close second, with warmer water.

Getting around

Private transfers throughout, border crossing included. No rental car, no internal flights.

A glimpse of the days
01
Arrive

A seaside property just south of Old Town, with the walls in view across the water. Then nothing. You just got off a plane.

02
Dubrovnik on foot

A private guide at nine, when it's still a city and not yet a queue.

03
The Elaphiti Islands

A private boat, your skipper, your route. Lunch is wherever he eats.

04
Over the border

A private driver into the Bay of Kotor and dinner on the water in Perast.

05
Kotor and Boka Bay

The fortress in the morning, then a speedboat to Our Lady of the Rocks and a swim at the Blue Cave.

06
Nothing

On purpose. This one is not negotiable.

07
Back to Dubrovnik

A different property this time, cliffside, with a beach below it and a three-course lunch included through my booking.

08
Home

Home.

Kristin's note

“Eight days with something scheduled every morning isn't a journey. It's a commute with better scenery.”

Get the full plan.

The full guide has the parts this page leaves out. The two things I'd argue with you about if you tried to change them. Exactly what was contracted at all three properties, because “perks” means nothing until someone gets specific. What changes if it's an anniversary, or a girlfriends' journey, or you have two more nights. And what to do if August is your only window.

I'll also let you know when I add a new journey. You can leave anytime.

What this looks like when I build it for you

Your version might keep the private boat and lose Montenegro. It might be Croatia for a milestone birthday with five of your closest friends, or the first two weeks you've taken alone in a decade. The version I'd build starts with a conversation about who's going and what's actually going on in your life, and it probably looks different from this by the end of it. The properties I book carry advisor benefits: room upgrades where there's inventory, breakfast, early check-in and late check-out, and property credits at several of them. Contracted benefits, not promotions, and not available booking direct.

For a journey like this one there's no planning fee. Hotels and suppliers pay me. If a build gets complex enough that a fee applies, I'll tell you before we start.
